Jack O'Connell is a third-year DPhil student working on quantum algorithms for computational chemistry. His research explores whether finite-depth fault-tolerant quantum algorithms can achieve favourable error scaling as the size of the chemical system increases.

Before joining the Tew group, Jack completed an undergraduate degree in Chemical Physics at the University of Bristol. During his DPhil, he has also worked on projects examining whether calculations on the simplest possible quantum hardware can be useful for computational chemistry.
